The '06 Living Room
The idea is simple: we bring furniture to the Vali-Hi Drive-In and watch movies in the comfort of our make-shift living room.

Doesn't that sound like fun?!

We did this once before and it was, in fact, a lot fun. This time I would to see us take over a dozen adjacent slots and build a living room that extends for a hundred feet. You can participate as much or as little as you'd like. Bring as much living room furniture as you can stuff into your car, van, truck or Jeep, for example: couches, recliners, end tables, ottomans, coffee tables, hassocks, lamps, &c. If you can't bring your entire living room just bring one or two items to add to someone else's (especially things to sit on). Eddy brought a lamp last time and that single piece of furniture made quite a difference.

I'll bring a power inverter so we can run a handful of 120v appliances (lights, stereos) from my Jeep and possibly a stereo system. Feel free to bring your own!

The Vali-Hi Drive-In offers concessions, charges $7.50/person for a triple feature and is only about fifteen minutes east of downtown Saint Paul on I-94. They open at 8p on Tuesday and I recommend you get there as early

as possible (to ensure that we all get to be next to one another). I'll try to be there right at 8p.

The funness quotient will increase geometrically with every additional carload of people and furniture what makes it out - so spread the word and invite whomever you want. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email or post in the forum (below).

Additional things you might consider bringing:
  • Food (people grill out there; but grills aren't really "living room furniture" - use your own discretion)
  • Bug Spray (seriously, those damn bugs, maybe I'll bring some citronella torches)
  • Blankets & Coats (it actually gets quite cold around midnight).
  • Toys (maybe Eddy will bring his fire staff?)
FYI, the Vali-Hi has a policy of "one car per slot" so what we do is park our cars towards the back of the slots and set up our furniture in front of them. I've found that this works quite well.

Weather Update 7/15, 5p:
The weather for Tuesday night in Lake Elmo looks promising. There might be some rain - but I don't think so. The percent chance of rain has been dropping all day and the radar looks pretty clear. The game is on!
