 | | It plays sounds through a tiny speaker when its fangs are manipulated, it's abdomen is squeezed or it is jostled. | This bug makes three different kinds of noises (though they are similar). It makes an attacking noise when its "fangs" are manipulated. If its hind-quarters are squeezed, it makes a disgusting "squoosh" noise and a growl of sorts. If it is josted, a motion switch causes it to make a more "dying" sound.
After playing with the innards for a while, I discovered there really | | Bug Guts | wasn't much I could do to manipulate the sounds (it's all of three switches, a tiny resistor, a tiny cap and an IC). But I discovered that the DSP is really quite good! When I bypassed the tiny 1.5" speaker and ran the audio signal into my amp it was clear, loud and evil sounding.
In the end, I decided not to wire any new switches in. All I did was replace the internal speaker with | | Just like the original, but with an RCA line coming out of its head. | an RCA jack and put it all back together. (And I apparently busted the LEDs in the eyes; drat.)
Current status: functional, finished The audio tracks herein were recorded by running the new audio line directly into my laptop. I hope to record "original" sounds by running the audio through the old 1.5" speaker to give y'all a frame of reference.
Attack This noise occurs when either of the front "fangs" are pulled.
Squooshing Noises A variety of noises the bug makes when its hind-section is "squooshed".
Motion Noises There is a motion switch on the circuit board. These are the sounds it makes when it is jostled.
Strange Error Noise Once in a while, for no good reason, the bug makes this noise. I don't know why.
